Example 5
To see rows of data for items sold.
Say we want to review the selling of items. This require us to filter the rows to see only rows having items other than item NR in column ITEM SOLD. In this case, we can use a Custom AutoFilter operation to look for one item in one column.
1. Follow steps 1 to 3 in Example 1 under Using Simple AutoFilter.
2. Click the small arrow which appears on the right side of column titled ITEM SOLD.
3. A list will appear.
4. Click Custom.
5. A dialog titled Custom AutoFilter will appear.
6. Set the dialog to read:
Select rows where ITEM SOLD does not equal NR.
7. Click OK.
Now, you will see only rows of data where the item is not NR - effectively the items are all items sold.
Example 6
To see rows of data for two particular accounts in column ACCOUNT-DEBIT.
Say we want to view records of two accounts (BANK A and BANK B) from column ACCOUNT-DEBIT and only rows of data related to those accounts will be visible. In this case, we can use a Custom AutoFilter operation because we want to view two items from one (same) column.
1. Follow steps 1 to 3 in Example 1 under Using Simple AutoFilter.
2. Click the small arrow which appears on the right side of column titled ACCOUNT-DEBIT.
3. A list will appear.
4. Click Custom.
5. A dialog titled Custom AutoFilter will appear.
6. Set the dialog to read:
Select rows where ACCOUNT-DEBIT equals ACCOUNT A or ACCOUNT-DEBIT equals ACCOUNT B.
7. Click OK.
Now, you will see only rows of data where the accounts in column ACCOUNT-DEBIT are the selected two items.
Example 7
To see rows of data for two particular accounts in column ACCOUNT CREDIT.
Say we want to view records of two accounts appearing in column ACCOUNT-CREDIT. In this case, we can use a Custom AutoFilter operation because we want to view two items from one column.
1. Follow steps 1 to 3 in Example 1 under Using Simple AutoFilter.
2. Click the small arrow which appears on the right side of column titled ACCOUNT CREDIT.
3. A list will appear.
4. Click Custom.
5. A dialog titled Custom AutoFilter will appear.
