Example 6

To see only rows of data where column TERM contains a particular term

Say we want to select a term from column TERM and only rows of data related to that term will be visible. In this case, we can use Simple AutoFilter because it will look for one particular item in one particular column only.

1. Follow steps 1 to 3 in Example 1.

2. Click the small arrow which appears on the right side of column titled TERM.

3. A list of unique available terms in the column will appear.

4. Select (Click on) a term.

Now you should see only rows of data where the term in column TERM is one you selected. All totals in row 1 will be automatically updated.

Example 7

To see only rows where column DUE DATE contains a particular due date

Say we want to select a date from column DUE DATE and only rows containing that date will be visible. In this case, we can use Simple AutoFilter because it will look for one particular item in one particular column only.

1. Follow steps 1 to 3 in Example 1.

2. Click the small arrow which appears on the right side of column titled DUE DATE.

3. A list of unique dates will appear.

4. Select (Click on) a term.

Now you should see only rows of data where the term in column DUE DATE is the one you selected. All totals in row 1 will be automatically updated. These are the totals of amounts due on that selected date.

Example 8

To see the selling prices for a particular selling item

Say we want to review the prices of a particular item. This require us to filter the rows to see only rows related to that selling item so that we can then look at the column PRICES. This can effectively be done by selecting rows having that particular selling item in the column ITEM SOLD. In this case, we can use Simple AutoFilter because it will look for one particular item in one particular column only.

1. Follow steps 1 to 3 in Example 1.

2. Click the small arrow which appears on the right side of column titled ITEM SOLD.

3. A list will appear.

4. Select (Click on) an item.

Now you should see only rows of data where the term in column ITEM SOLD is the one you selected. You can then look at the prices in the column PRICES.

Example 9

To see the purchase prices for a purchased item

Say we want to review prices of a particular item we purchased. This require us to filter the rows to see only those related to that particular item so that we can then look at the column PRICES. This can effectively be done by selecting rows having that particular purchased item in column ITEM PURCHASED. In this case, we can use Simple AutoFilter because it will look for one particular item in one particular column only.

1. Follow steps 1 to 3 in Example 1.
2. Click the small arrow which appears on the right side of column titled ITEM PURCHASED.

3. A list will appear.

4. Select (Click on) an item.

Now you should see only rows of data where the term in column ITEM PURCHASED is one you selected. You can then look at the prices in the column PRICES.
